About Me (Sharon Brine)
My journey into the nonprofit sector began 7 years ago at the then Alzheimer's Australia where I saw the kind of impact that nonprofits have for people who are often left behind by society. I learned the importance of advocacy, the power of community-driven initiatives, and the critical role that empathy plays in creating meaningful change.
During those 7 years, I was also lucky enough to become a mum to 2 gorgeous girls. Motherhood is the hardest thing I've ever done, and it opened my eyes to how important community and support are to balancing personal and professional challenges.
These experiences have shaped my vision for Women For Purpose. I want this newsletter to go beyond simply acknowledging the professional accomplishments of women leading nonprofits. I believe that to truly support these remarkable women, we must recognise and celebrate the whole person—both their work and their lives outside of it. Through this approach, I hope to create a space where women leaders can find not only professional insights and resources but also personal connection, support, encouragement and solidarity.
My goal is that Women For Purpose becomes a community that understands and supports the full scope of the journeys of women leading nonprofits.
